And then I finally turned ONE!!!

My mom, Nana, and Great Grandma Pat took me out for my ONE year photoshoot. My mom wanted to make sure that I had enough updated photos for my upcoming birthday party.

Needless-to-say, I think we succeeded.
;)

In the end, my mom's favorite was this collage of all the many faces I like to make. I think a few other people enjoyed it too.
What can I say?
I'm sorta 'known' for my expressive nature.

This is now hanging in my Papa's office...

...so that he can miss me and laugh at my silly faces every day. =)

I just wanted to say that I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe 4th of July!!!

I sure did! First thing in the morning I got to go on a run/walk with my Uncle Aaron and Papa. Thanks so much Vogel family for having me over! =)
There I got a first place ribbon for the squid race (ha ha), a string of shiny red beads, GIANT YUMMY pancakes, and an awesome tattoo that my uncle put on my belly. You'll see that in later photos.
Anyway, I had so much fun!

Later I went to my other Grammy and Grandpa's house and probably ate a whole watermelon by myself. =)
My mom was at this shindig, so she was able to snag a few shots of me doing this...

Well, that was it for my fourth. My parents were going to see if I wanted to see the fireworks this year...but I was too exhausted. They had a hard time keeping my eyes open past 6:45pm. =)

On to February...

February was a busy and exciting month for me!
On the 6th, I took my first couple of steps! My parents were so proud of me!! But, they failed to get me to do it again for the camera. I was tuckered out!!

I also started trilling my lips with my finger this month. My parents kept trying to get me to do it...so they were pretty excited to show that 'talent' off to family and friends.
I liked the attention...so I went with it.

On the 11th, I turned 11 months old.
Now THAT'S an accomplishment! he he =)

Yup, on February 15th, I gave my FIRST KISS! And it was to my dad. =)

Later that same month, on the 25th...I mimicked my first word. My dad pointed to my mom and said "mama". So, I looked at her and said "mama". They were astonished! I didn't want them to get used to it though...so I haven't really done it since.

Gotta keep 'em on their toes, you know?

Blogging is REALLY just modern day scrapbooking, right?
I mean...who actually scrapbooks on time!

Well, since my mom did a great job taking pictures of me EVERY month of my first year...I figured it was only appropriate to share each month with you. So, we've gotta go back in time a bit...

ALL the way back to January!

In January, my mom and dad took me to go visit my Uncle Jason and Aunt Tori up in Santa Barbara. We had such a good time with them! It was there that I turned 10 months old. So, my mom, of course, had to do a little photoshoot of me. Here are a couple of those shots.

Not exactly sure what she had me wearing...it has like, EVERY color in the rainbow though!

I stood on my own for the very first time at their house!
My parents were soooo proud of me!
And...I was pretty proud of myself!

Uncle Jason and Aunt Tori had a little yard in the back of their house. My dad and I went out there to play for a little while. I wasn't quite sure what that green stuff was...since my parents still haven't finished our yard at home!
GRASS? What's that?!?!
It felt nice to sit on though. =)

Okay, so that's my big 10 MONTH OLD update....only 6 months behind schedule!!

Hey, at least I'm doing better than my mom. She still hasn't put together her Wedding Album!
Talk about being behind schedule!!! ;)

I'm sorry its been awhile. I have lots and lots of news to update you with...
...like, I'm ONE now!
My mom is very busy planning my birthday party, so when that's over, I'll have to share my last couple of months with you.

I figured I'd share a little of my Christmas and New Year's with you all. =)

This is a picture that my dad took of my mom and me in front of my very FIRST Christmas Tree!
Isn't it beautiful? I didn't really get to help decorate it this year...because all I want to do is eat the ornaments.
But I definitely 'practiced' taking it down A LOT.
It was really fun grabbing those beads and swinging on them!

For Christmas, we drove up to my Great Grandma and Grandpa Polley's house. This is a picture of me, my parents, and them.
We had so much fun there!

My aunt Laurie brought her new little puppy up to meet me. Her name is Emma. We liked to wrestle and play together. At first it was okay, because Emma wasn't feeling well....and she moved at more of my kind of speed.
As she felt better and better....she started to whip my lil' booty!

Then, to add salt to the wound...the adults decided it would be funny for me to wear emma's dog hats.
How embarassing!

I know I look happy in these pictures....but it's only because I had no clue what was going on!

Okay, the reindeer antlers are a little better...

I gave them the show they were looking for...like a good lil' girl.
Merry Christmas! Ho ho ho!

Then it was time to put on the Christmas Dress my Nana had bought for me.
It's a really pretty dress...just a little hard to crawl in.
But, I cooperated for a few photos....

"Cheese"

"Okay, I'm done."

I figured it was a great time to get naked...

My family had other plans.
As you can see....I look thrilled.

But, then it was all over.
So, I thought....
Don't ask me about this one...who's idea was this anyway???

After playing awhile with my Great Grandparents....we went to go see my other Great Grandma and Grandpa Powell. We had a good time there too. I got to see all of my cousins and aunts and uncles...it was a busy place!

A few days later, I had yet ANOTHER Christmas!
We went to my Grammy's house. And, I got to see yet another set of Great Grandparents! I hear I'm a really lucky girl to have all of those Grandmas and Grandpas who love me so much!
Here is a picture of me and my Oma (my Poppop is taking a photo of us--he likes photography like my mom!) She made this really cool monkey for me. His name is PeeJay.
Then she bought matching PJs for me and her! They have pictures of PeeJay all over them!

And then, that was it for Christmas.
Whew!
It was the most AWESOME First Christmas EVER!!!

Then New Year's came...and my Nana and Papa had a party at their house.
More of my family members came to join us for food, games, movies, and more food...it was a blast!
Even though I got put to bed at my regular 7:00 bedtime....I just happened to wake up 5 minutes before the Ball Dropped!
Since my parents are so cool, they let me stay up to enjoy my first New Year's!
I came out to the living room to find everyone wearing these crazy things on their heads!

I soon was wearing my own set.

Hi Everyone!
Here are a few of my 8 month photos.
As you can see...I think I'm pretty cute! I crawl really fast now. I really like to play hide 'n' seek around the couch. My dad likes to startle me when I round the corners though...it's pretty funny.

I stand up on everything now.
This is my tough girl look...

Since I pull myself up on the chairs so much, my mom decided to sit me on one! I know...kinda crazy...I scared her a few times. But, all in all....I did a good job listening and just stayed put!
It made for some pretty fun photos....

A Bug's Life...

...was the theme for my mom's Halloween Party. It was really fun having such crazy decorations up in our house! Good thing my mom's friend Missi brought her camera...she took all of these nice pictures for us! My mom was way to busy doing the 'hostess' thing. Thanks Missi!
As for the bugs....well, here we are!
Ethan was a spider...Bella was the ladybug...
My cousin Graham was a Japanese beetle!Nixon was an awesome caterpillar (his mom was a butterfly...isn't that fun?)And then there was Aiden.....SPIDERMAN!!! =) Ha ha!Lastly...me, the bee.
Okay, so it was a little overwhelming having all of those people in my house. It was a busy place!Help?!?!I was okay when my dad rescued me. He is the slug in this picture...just in case you didn't recognize him.Then I found another bee! Phew! Here is a family picture. My mom was a bee, too! She's not wearing her crown right now, but she was supposed to be the Queen bee. He he he...
Doesn't our house look neat? The kids that came trick-or-treating really liked it.

We were all tuckered out at this point. About 3 seconds later...we were all down to our diapers!!

Finally....my costume!

Okay, I know it is almost Turkey day...I just had to make sure to wrap up my first Halloween Experience!
So, here is my costume! These were taken right before Trick-or-treating...I was pretty exhausted because I didn't take my afternoon nap. What can I say? I was WAY TOO excited!!!
Well, here's a half smile...
Here we are trick-or-treating! No...my parents didn't give me any candy...we just walked around while my friend Bella got all the treats. It was still a lot of fun though. I really liked the pumpkins and hallween lights!

So, how was Halloween?

Many of you have been asking about my 1st Halloween. Well...

IT WAS AWESOME! I didn't know that pumpkins, spiders, and ghosts could be so much fun!!!
I was lucky enough to get to celebrate the spooky holiday a few times....

...it all started with the pumpkin patches (see previous postings). Then I attended my first High School Halloween Party! My parents help with the High Schoolers at church...so I always get to tag along. I love it because then I get to play with my cousin Graham. We have so much fun together!!

I like to tackle him...even though he's older. You can see here that I have a pretty good hold on him! My dad has been teaching me how to wrestle. I make him proud. =)

Graham doesn't seem to like it so much...and has a pretty good 'tough' face, but he never fights back! I don't think Uncle Kevin has taught him how yet.

Look at my dad...what a crazy guy. I can't believe he is actually trying to get sympathy!!! He's the one who started the pumpkin fight! Such a trouble maker! I got my first taste of fresh pumpkin that night. My parents let me lick one. I'm not so sure I liked how it tasted.By the end of the night, I was so exhausted...I didn't know WHAT was going on! My dad likes to take advantage of these moments....

While we were at the pumpkin patch, my mom's really good friend, Missi, took some photos for us. It was so nice of her! Usually my mommy is never in photos with me and dad...it's so nice to have a few pictures with the three of us!
We had such a blast!

Okay, is my dad throwing me up into the air...or...is he receiving me from heaven?
Get it?? I'm such an ANGEL!!! Ha ha! =) I know I said 'family photos'...but it's really all about me!

7 Months Old!

Ya heard me! I'm seven whole months old...well, plus some. =)

As for an update on me....I started crawling this month! Yup, on October 9th. I am ALL over the place! I really give my parents a workout! I also learned how to pull myself up onto the couch and other low places on the 18th of this month, just so that I can practice standing on my own!
Have I mentioned how much I LOVE ALL electronics, including but not limited to: cell phones, cameras, portable phones, TV controlers, and cell phone chargers? Oh, yeah...and electrical outlits....sooooo, fun!

Well, I thought I'd show you my pictures before I turn 8 months (in two weeks already!)
My mom took me to a pumpkin patch...boy, was it fun! I think I might love pumpkins just as much as my mom! Here, they were trying to sell me off as the $11 pumpkin!!! Any takers?!?

All I gotta say is.....Blue Steel, baby!!!
This pumpkin was at least 10 times the size of me! Then my mom tried to give me a bath! Crazy, I know...I still had my clothes on!I think she was just playin' with me.... =)

A couple of weeks ago, when we had our first 'fall-ish' day, my mom brought out of storage this awesome scarf to play with. I loved it!I should mention that it tasted REALLY good, too!!

Summin' up Summer

Hi Folks!
I can't believe it has already been another month since I've talked to you all!
Well, summer is over...so here is a brief summary of my life during the last month or so.

I started eating real food! I like pretty much everything...my veggies (carrots, sweet potatos, squash) are my favorite! I did gag a little with peas...but now I eat them just fine. It took me awhile to get used to fruit (I know I'm strange), but now I think I love all fruit except peaches. Man those peaches are yucky!!! Blech!
Here, I think my mom got more food on my face than in my mouth!

My mom did a fun little photoshoot with me a few weeks back...I think I was going for that "Norman Rockwell" look.

By the way, I started sitting on September 12th. Just one day after my 6 month birthday!

Here is a picture from a really special photoshoot of me in my mom's slip...she used to where it when she was a little girl like me! You can see more from this photoshoot on my mommy's blog.

Finally, I went swimming for the first time! Boy, was it a blast!

That's the name of my first Viking team!

Probably my ONLY Viking team! Ha ha!
I recently went up to Hume Lake with my parents....and with the rambunctious high schoolers from our church!
Yep, I attended my first high school camp...as a 5 1/2 month old!

It was great fun! The theme this year was Vikings and fur....lots and lots of FUR!!!

So, of course my mom had to make this AWESOME costume for me! I fit right in with those wacky big kids! =)

Here I am practicing my THORLAK roar!! I look like a mean Viking, huh?

Especially in that PINK!Okay...I couldn't hold that serious face forever! I started bustin' up here....my mom is so crazy!

A half a YEAR already?!?!

Yesterday was my 6 month birthday!!!
My mom can't believe that a half of a year has already gone by since my birth!
Okay, okay...I take it back.
She can't believe that a half of a year has gone by....and I still don't sleep through the night!!!

It's just that I miss her soooooo much in the middle of the night...wink wink! =)

Well, she had been feeling guilty for not posting lately, so she took a bunch of photos of me! So...here they are!

Note: My fingers are NOT in my mouth! Just other things...My mom says I'm getting soooo big! I've already started to rock up on my hands and knees!

No...I'm not sitting up by myself quite yet. I last about 3-5 seconds without help. But with a Boppy around my waist...I do pretty well!

A Little Update...

Hi Everyone!
How embarassing! You haven't seen or heard from me for over a month! Yeesh!
Well, my mom has been pretty busy...
We've taken lots of pictures though. It just might take us awhile to get you all caught up on my little life! Here's for starters...

I've been going on lots of walks with my parents.
I LOVE the Bjorn.
If I'm cranky...all my parents have to do is wear me...and I'm all good.
In fact, I picked my first flower the other day while we were on a walk. My dad tried to show them to me...and I snatched one before he could blink!
And...then I tried to eat it, like I do EVERYTHING.Over-stimulation anyone???
I've got plenty of it... I love my parents bed. It's probably my second favorite place to be (after the Bjorn).
My mom was trying out some new photography stuff...I think I cooperated rather well!
Okay...that's it for now.

I wanna be just like my dad...

Hi everyone!
My dad is teaching me how to do some pretty cool stuff...I just wanted to share with you what I've learned from him!

He likes to sing to me...especially the song that he made up just for me:
"You're the lil' squid. Duh-nuh nuh nuh, na-na-nuh nuh nuh!"

He also makes lots of faces...I think I'm picking them up rather well, too!

Here are my 'official' 4 month photos. My mom dressed me up and put me in a basket. It was actually kind of fun. She zoomed me around the living room like I was driving my own car.

Alright...I know! I can't keep my fingers out of my mouth! I absolutely have to be chewing on something. My mom thinks that I'm starting to get my teeth. We'll see...

Well, I've made it to my three month birthday! Hooray! My mom decided to take some photos of me.

A Day at the Zoo!

On Friday, my buddies and I went to the zoo! It was my first time...and boy, was it exciting!

We were all ready to go, and then my mom put these cool shades on me!

YIKES!
Doesn't she know that the only 'cool' way for girls to wear sunglasses is on their head?!?!?
She is so out of touch with the latest style!

Phew! That's so much better!
First we saw a beautiful peacock. It decided to show off right in front of us!!!

Then we saw the flamingos....I love pink!

The monkey was really tired....either that or really HUNGRY!!!

This fish looked right at me!

Then we saw the elephants...they looked so friendly.

Finally...we saw another monkey! Just kidding!!! This is my friend Bella. She had a blast too!

I can't wait to go back!

So last week was a busy week for me.

On Monday, I went with my parents to a birthday party. It was so fun! I got to see all of my friends!

My cousin Graham is on my right. He's a happy guy!

Then there is Nixon...he's pretty serious. But, I think he's starting to have a little more fun. =)

Next is Aiden. He just moved back into town. It was his dad's birthday. I think he's pretty old...like 1560 weeks or something.

Finally, Ethan is on my left. We envy his hair.

We all had a pretty good time...Aiden played with his really cool toy...

Graham punched Aiden's dad's lights out...

Nixon was really upset about it...

Ethan was spying on...
Bella who was stealing treats out of the bowl...

And...well, I was just chillin' in my dad's arms.

Hi!

My name is Abbey Grace Burmeister...

...and this is my Blog.

I was born on March 11, 2007,

a whole 7 pounds and 7 ounces...

...and I was 21 inches tall!

Yep...tall like my dad.

Actually...we look a lot alike.

My dad is really cool.

He loves me so much!

He makes funny faces at me all the time...

...and calls me lil' squid.
He sings this silly song everytime he sees me...

...I don't really understand what he's saying,

but he always makes me smile!

You know?

I'm a lucky girl...

...because my mom is pretty cool too!

(She paid me to say that!)

I look a little like my mom...

My dad says I have her chin...

my Aunt Maressa says I have her feet!

Silly! I know!

My mom loves me a lot, too.

You know how I know?

Everyday she feeds me,

plays with me,

changes my diapers,

rocks me,

sings to me,

and sometimes naps with me!

But most of all....she ALWAYS takes my picture!

Although...

...I typically look like this after our photoshoots!

I don't quite understand it...

but, I guess I have to get used to it...

Because she LOVES photography!!

I guess that's good for now.
